Is Comprehensive Liability Insurance Necessary?

We would be in a huge amount of financial worries if insurance was not on our side. If you think about it; if you get in an accident, what happens? The first things people do that have insurance is call their insurance company; those who do not have a hard time coming to them. Face it; having insurance is an everyday occurrence. Car insurance keeps us level headed when we are in the car.

We have all used or will use our insurance at some point in our lives. Most of the time we do not need the insurance and we complain about the premium that goes along with it. It isn?t until you actually make a claim that you were glad you had it. Read more…

Car insurance holders ‘must care for vehicle so it keeps its value’

Car insurance policyholders who fail to look after the interior of their vehicle could lose up to £500 when they come to sell it, research shows.

A report by Carsite.co.uk found that poorly maintained trims and upholstery could be costing motorists up to £500, while a messy interior devalues a vehicle by between £300 and £400.

Cracked or chipped windscreens are also a problem for car insurance policyholders, as they can reduce the asking price of a vehicle by £250 to £300.

Choosing an undesirable colour is also a bad idea when buying a new or used car, as this can reduce the selling on price by up to £500.

“A well-maintained car is the best way to get a good resell valuation and fill your buyer with confidence,” said Alistair Jeff, of Carsite.co.uk.

Last week, Protyre warned Car insurance policyholders that the cold weather could be doing damage to vehicles that is less visible but just as problematic.

42% of motor insurance holders ‘drive with dangerous defects’

More than two in five van and car insurance policyholders admitted to driving with one or more dangerous defects in their vehicles, according to new research.

Among the faults reported were damaged tyres, broken lights and indicators, poor brakes and the wrong oil or water levels.

In addition 84 per cent of van and car insurance policyholders said they did not know the percentage wear on their vehicle’s brake pads at the time of its last service.

Nearly three-quarters said that they only had their brakes checked during the annual service or MOT, the survey found.

“This research shows a shockingly low level of knowledge and concern among drivers when it comes to the safety of their vehicle, particularly ‘out of sight, out of mind’ components such as brakes which are so safety critical,” said Mary Williams, chief executive of Brake, which commissioned the study.

Other recent research by www.carrentals.co.uk found that around half of car insurance policyholders admit to driving while tired.
